EXPERIENCE
Since 1997, I have included my experience as a home builder and a business owner to help hundreds of home buyers and sellers find their way through the buying and selling process. I have sold over $2 million in homes every year since 1999. I came to Eugene ( www.planeteugene.com) in 1973 to attend the University of Oregon and graduated with a teaching degree in 1976. I know the areas of town and the vast recreational opportunites in Western Oregon very well. I have always tried to be a good listener and an effective resource person who has my client's best interests at heart. With over eleven years of experience behind me, I have seen what works and what doesn’t, what to look out for and who is good to work with for for mortgages, inspections and escrow and title work. What is most important to me for the short and long term is that your experience in working with me is a good one so that you will come back to me in the future and refer me to your friends and family.
EARTH ADVANTAGE
In February 2008, I completed a two day class in Portland at Earth Advantage, which certifies me as an Earth Advantage S.T.A.R. Accredited Professional Broker. Earth Advantage is a nonprofit organization that works with builders and developers to certify homes that are energy efficient, have good interior air quality and use environmentally sound materials. CHANGES
2008 marks the beginning of my twelfth year as a realtor and broker helping home buyers and sellers realize their real estate dreams. Much has changed since 1997, both in how real estate transactions are managed and in my life as well. Instead of a three legal page contract and minimal disclosures, we are now have an eight letter page contract, five pages of property disclosures, agency disclosures and four extra pages of information on real estate transactions. In 1997, listing information came to us in the form of a weekly book with a small black and white photo and limited information on each home for sale. Now everything is computer driven with instant updates, up to 16 color photos, virtual tours, links to websites and extended descriptions. But as much as things have changed, the consistent factor is that it still takes experience, honesty, patience and perseverance to succesfully complete a real estate transaction.
CURRENT MARKET
The real estate market in the Pacific NW has held up better than most areas of the US. In Lane County, which includes Eugene and Springfield, as of the end of February 2008, average prices have increased in the past 12 months by 3.7% ($265,300 vs. $255,800). Listing have increased by 0.2%, pending sales decreased by 32.6% and closed sales decreased by 29.8%. At the current rate of sales, active residential listings would last 9 months. The average days on market is at 89 days. (Source of the above information is RMLS)
RE/MAX INTEGRITY
In 2002 I moved my real estate business to RE/MAX Integrity, which has continued to be the most successful company in Lane County with the most sales in all categories including over all number of sales, higher end sales, first time home buyer sales and multi family housing sales. Because there are such a large number of high volumn real estate brokers at RE/MAX integrity, I find that more and more of my sales are with other in house brokers. PERSONAL
My three sons have grown into young men since 1997 and have gone off into their own life adventures with marriage, jobs, education and travel. My life took a significant turn in 2000 when Linda Dawn, my high school girlfriend whom I hadn’t seen in thirty years, came back into my life. We’ve been married for seven years now and have enjoyed trips to Italy, Paris, Amsterdam, Scotland, England and Southern France. During 2003-2004, we did most of the design and construction ourselves for our custom home in the SW hills of Eugene. I’ve recently backed away from playing basketball and climbing mountains to preserve my aging knees, but still enjoy swimming, bicycling and hiking. On our travels I’ve enjoyed taking digital photos and sending them by email to friends and family along the way.
